Donnelly Creek State Recreation Site, Alaska, United States

Color Zone: Dark Gray
Is Camping Allowed? Yes, and a cabin
Entrance Fee? No
Description: Located on the edge of the Alaska Range south of Delta Junction, Donnelly Creek is a great dark site for seeing the aurora. There are trees, but most are short and don’t block the sky too much. The views of the Delta River and surrounding mountains is very scenic. Any of the nearby roadside pullouts on the Richardson Highway would make great viewing spots as well. Traffic at night is almost nonexistent, but watch out for moose.
