Description: La Palma is a unique volcanic island, part of the Canary Island chain. The island was named the world’s first starlight reserve, and laws keep the amount of light pollution to a minimum. The Roque de los Muchachos Observatory contains a fleet of large research telescopes in one of the best locations for astronomy in the northern hemisphere. Throughout the island are a number of stargazing spots, from beaches to mountaintops.
