Description: The Outlaw Cave Campground is part of Middle Fork of the Powder River Recreation Area on BLM land. Camping is free, but there is no water. It is very remote, many miles from the nearest town. Follow the directions on the BLM website below. The last 2-3 miles require a high clearance vehicle, possibly 4WD if the road is wet. A small light dome from Casper is visible to the south, but the majority of the sky is perfectly dark. Note that the road is closed from November 16th – April 15th each year.
