Description: Abisko National Park is one of the best places in the world for seeing the aurora. The beautiful Scandinavian Mountains create a rain shadow effect which leads to clearer skies than surrounding areas. You can get here by train or by car, and the nearest airport is in Kiruna. There are only a few lights in the small village, but overall it’s very dark. Hike into the national park and stay at one of the wilderness huts for the best experience under the stars.
