Spring Lake State Wildlife Area, Illinois, United States

Color Zone: Light Green
Is Camping Allowed? Yes, at Pine or Oak Campground
Entrance Fee? No
Description: Spring Lake is in a fairly dark part of central Illinois. There are streetlights on the north and south ends of the lake, so it’s best to observe from the middle. This site has excellent visibility down to the horizon to the east and south. But trees block the sky to the west, and there is a large light dome to the north from Peoria. This can be a popular fishing area on summer weekends, even at night.
